Provide some basic medical history and book an appointment with a licensed marijuana doctor. The $199 fee includes your consultation fee, physician copay, and the medical evaluation for your recommendation.
Consult with a marijuana physician who will evaluate your ailments and answer any questions you have about medical marijuana treatment. This can be either online, through video, or in person, depending on where you live.
If you are approved for medical marijuana, you’ll receive your recommendation. Depending on your state, you will either be granted immediate access to dispensaries or wait to receive your card in the mail.
North Dakota legalized medical cannabis in 2016 but remains illegal for recreational use. The state’s medical marijuana program was legalized after a ballot question in 2016, with up to 67% percent of residents voting for the measure.
North Dakota has a detailed list of 22 qualifying conditions, first listing a terminal illness as immediate approval for a medical cannabis card. ND medical marijuana patients must be residents of the state and are considered minors until they are 19 years old. After reaching 19, residents may then submit their own applications for medical marijuana use.
On August 1st, 2023, patient purchase limits for concentrates, solutions, topicals, capsules, and transdermal patches increased from 4,000 mg of THC total to 6,000 mg. The 30-day time period for limits remained the same.
Initially rejected in both 2018 and 2022, a ballot initiative to legalize recreational marijuana in North Dakota has qualified for the November 2024 election. The initiative would allow adults 21 and older to use marijuana in private, with regulated production, processing, and possession limits. It also outlines specific restrictions, such as prohibiting public use and driving under the influence. Home cultivation would be allowed under the proposed law.
