Pot Brothers at Law Advise Why You Should Get Your Medical Cannabis Card

Note:  The information provided here is for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice. We merely report on the facts as they are presented and their implications in regards to cannabis.

We had the amazing opportunity to speak with the Pot Brothers at Law, brothers Marc and Craig Wasserman. You may recognize them as Instagram celebrity cannabis attorneys from their informative and entertaining tip of the day videos in which they remind marijuana patients of their rights and how to go about talking to police officers about having marijuana in your car. We spoke to Marc and Craig about why you should get a medical marijuana card if you don’t already have one and how to exercise your legal rights. Watch here to learn from two legal professionals with a collective 50 years of experience, both of whom are medical marijuana patients themselves.

Video Transcript:

Anthony: Veriheal had the unique opportunity recently to speak with celebrity cannabis attorneys Marc and Craig Wasserman from Pot Brothers at Law. They explain why you should get your medical marijuana card. Watch to learn more

Craig: Absolutely, people are fooling themselves, if they’re taking it without a recommendation, if they don’t think it’s medical anyways. The main way is, God forbid, you carry over an ounce of weed on you, that’s a misdemeanor. So, if you have your card, you can have up to eight ounces, but it’s the guidelines, and the cops usually know those guidelines for medical patients. Just eight ounces. So, why wouldn’t you get it? Everybody stopped getting them when adult use came out. We think that’s silly. It’s just as easy to go get a recommendation and have that much more protection. Plus, with your medical recommendation, you can actually smoke in areas that you can otherwise not smoke if you weren’t a patient.

Marc: So right, in California, with your physician’s recommendation, there become five places that you cannot smoke. Within 1,000 feet of a school or youth facility, no smoking zone, in a motor vehicle that’s operating, while operating a boat, and on a school bus. Anywhere else, if people are lighting up cigarettes and stuff, you can smoke. Now, it is worth noting that private places, like you know restaurants and Disneyland and other places like that, have whatever rules they have. Most of those places, while they allow cigarette smoke, they don’t allow cannabis smoke, so that would still be considered a no smoking zone.

I would like to know , if you have a legal card and an employer does random drug testing and of course you fail and of course they either terminate you or take disciplinary action against you , you were not using the medication at work or have possession of the medicine , does the employee have any legal recourse to protect himself , the employee may have taken their medicine up to 30 days before the test and would still fail , even though the employee is not showing any signs of being high or stoned ?

This is a great question and one that I’m sure many have. Unfortunately, this scenario has happened before in some places and it’s quite complicated. I would definitely get in touch with Pot Brothers At Law or any attorney that specializes in cannabis laws to see what options are available.

We recommend that everyone get a medical card even in recreational states because it can only work in your favor and give you a leg to stand on should a legal incident arise.

Is it legal if I have a MMCard to carry between states?
When I move can I buy with my previous states card before I apply for one in the new state? I’m in PA and moving to Florida.

Most likely not. Medical cannabis laws usually indicate that products stay within the state they are processed/sold. If you get caught, having a medical card could help you but it’s not guaranteed especially if you get caught crossing into prohibition states.

Depending on where you live, patients on Medicaid and disability are able to receive a discount on medical card application fees. If you are looking for product discounts, that is solely dependent upon each dispensary in which you will need to contact them directly.

Hi, How does the probation process look at a medical marijuana card? Will it allow me to have cannabis in my system legally for anxiety?
