Discovering Advanced Nutrients

Michael “Big Mike” Straumietis, the owner of Advanced Nutrients, already had extensive combined experience in business, marketing, horticulture, and engineering when he co-founded Canadian Soiless Ltd in 1996. A couple years later, Polar Bear Manufacturing Ltd. was born into existence and became an exclusive company that made innovative, professional equipment such as heat exchangers, fans, blowers, and C02 dispensers. Advancing further in his career, Big Mike expanded his research, development, and marketing skills into Advanced Nutrients after he discovered that fertilizers sold by other companies failed to maximize the profit potential of high-level hydroponics gardens. These companies were also selling products that were not specifically or properly engineered for the high-value crops grown by many hard-working cultivators.

Going back to the drawing board, Big Mike and his team of scientists discovered that most fertilizers lacked correct levels, ratios, and the types of quality components most useful for hydroponic plants. After many years of field testing, the company unveiled a startling new line of products specifically engineered for hydroponics, which differs greatly to its soil growing counterparts. For example, products sold under Advanced Nutrients contain proprietary blends of quality micro- and macro-nutrients, amino acids, hormones, expensive chelates, vitamins, organics, and yeast just to name a few. Some of their products are almost completely organic.

Big Mike and his team have also created dozens of powerful growing formulas, including Monkey Juice. Monkey Juice is one of many specialty fertilizers which feature micro-adjusted week-by-week formulations designed to satisfy the plants’ changing needs during flowering and ripening. This allows growers to get the tastiest, best-smelling crops imaginable. Their products include engineered nutrition programs, soil treatments, root zone additives, foliar sprays, preventives, inoculants, compost teas, bud boosters, and other highly-effective specialty formulas that help growers create strong plants that are protected against pests and diseases.
