Green Crack Strain: Information and Effects

As of writing this, there are nearly 1,000 weed strains in existence — and more are being bred every single day. Some strains only differ from each other slightly, and others are opposite experiences.

One general way to lump strains together is by the “indica” and “sativa” categories. For example, an indica may help you fall asleep, whereas a sativa can make you talkative and giggly.

In the late 1990s, a strain called OG Kush was introduced. To this day, anything with the words OG or Kush tends to be a top-seller. More recently, however, medical and recreational patients alike have started paying more attention to the chemical makeup of the strains — namely, the terpene and cannabinoid profiles — to choose something that will best suit their needs.

One strain that has gained a fair amount of notoriety is Green Crack, which we will explore further below.

What is Green Crack?

Green Crack is a sativa-dominant hybrid cannabis strain that came about by crossing Skunk #1 with an unknown Afghani landrace strain in the 1970s. It has an average of:

  • 17% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)
  • 1% cannabigerol (CBG)
  • 0.2% cannabidiol (CBD)

The main terpenes found in Green Crack are myrcene, caryophyllene, and pinene.

Green Crack is also known as Green Cush or Mango Crack. The name Green Crack was popularized after Snoop Dogg tried it and described it as such to describe its intense effects.

It’s most often used as a daytime strain. Testimonials say that the strain is great for chores due to its focusing effects, and is also great for social anxiety because it can make you more talkative. It’s the perfect cannabis strain for productivity.

The price of Green Crack ranges from about $140-$160/oz, depending on where you live, what the brand/quality of the cannabis is, and what dispensary you buy from.

Green Crack Strain Benefits

Green Crack has many benefits due to its richness in cannabinoids and terpenes.

It has a moderate THC percentage (THC is the psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis), but THC is more than just the cannabinoid that gets you high. According to a 2023 Continuing Education Activity published in the National Library of Medicine, THC is a “medicinal compound” used to treat conditions such as:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Chemotherapy side effects
  • AIDS-related low appetite

Green Crack also contains CBG, a more recently discovered cannabinoid that has taken the cannabis industry by storm. CBG is being studied for quite a few medicinal benefits, including (but not limited to) treating:

  • Huntington’s Disease
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Colon cancer

That being said, CBG content in cannabis plants needs to increase via breeding for patients to experience its full benefits.

Green Crack Strain Effects

Green Crack strain is a true sativa hybrid, inducing effects such as:

  • Focus
  • Energy
  • Sociability
  • Increased productivity
  • Boosted mood

One five-star review on Leafly said that Green Crack helps them “stop focusing on all physical discomfort” and is a staple in their medicine cabinet. Another user testified: “I live with chronic depression, so a bowl or two every morning helps me get over my gray mood and get on with my day.”

Some potential side effects of Green Crack include:

  • Paranoia
  • Dry mouth
  • Anxiety

If you’re experiencing these side effects, drink water and breathe deeply. Sucking on a sour candy can also do wonders to bring you down from a high that’s too intense — I keep a tin with me everywhere I go.

Another important note is not to be afraid to tell your friends if you’re not feeling well! Their support can help you get through it; it’s nice not to be alone.

Green Crack Terpenes

Cannabis terpenes are compounds found in cannabis trichomes along with cannabinoids. There are over 200 terpenes and each one has unique properties that impact both the therapeutic and recreational effects of the strain, along with the taste and aroma.

The main terpenes found in Green Crack are:

Myrcene is the most abundant terpene found in cannabis and is responsible for the earthy smell we all know and love. It’s known to be relaxing and is being studied for its therapeutic values beyond easing anxiety. A 2022 study on rats in the International Journal of Molecular Science concludes: “In summary, myrcene was found to have anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects in inflammatory joint disease by activating articular cannabinoid receptors.”

Why You Should Get Your Medical Marijuana Card

Veriheal has satisfied millions of patients nationwide by giving them access to these benefits

  • Larger purchase limits
  • Peace of mind
  • Enhanced legal protection
  • Access to higher potency strains
  • Save up to 25% on cannabis purchases
  • Skip the line at the dispensary

Other health benefits include:

  • Antioxidants
  • Anti-aging properties
  • Analgesic (reduces pain)

The second most abundant terpene, caryophyllene, is a well-sought-after cannabinoid known as an anti-inflammatory agent. The National Center for Biotechnology Information states that: “Anti-inflammatory agents… are non-steroidal in nature. In addition to anti-inflammatory actions, they have analgesic, antipyretic, and platelet-inhibitory actions.”

Pinene is the third most abundant terpene in Green Crack. Pinene is one of the top five most common terpenes in cannabis. It offers a plethora of benefits, including:

  • Energy boost
  • Bronchodilator
  • Anti-inflammation
  • Counters short-term memory loss
  • Potentially cancer-fighting
  • Antiseptic

These terpenes are also all interacting via the entourage effect, producing unique properties when acting together compared to isolated compounds.

The entourage effect is often why people choose full-spectrum CBD products or live resin cartridges; keeping all of the plant’s chemical makeup is vital if you want to experience medicinal qualities similar to the plant itself.

3 Strains That Are Similar to Green Crack

Three strains similar to Green Crack are Jack Herer, Super Lemon Haze, and Sour Diesel. These strains were chosen based on THC, CBG, and terpene profile, as well as by targeting specific effects that the Green Crack strain has on the body and mind.

1. Jack Herer

Jack Herer is a sativa-dominant hybrid strain with about 18% THC and 1% CBG. It’s rich in terpinolene, carophyllene, and pinene. It’s the result of a three-way cross between Shiva Skunk, Haze, and Northern Lights #5.

Carophyllene and pinene are abundant in both Green Crack and Jack Herer. Both strains are energizing sativa-dominant hybrids with medium THC levels and 1% CBG. Jack Herer is a great replacement if you’re looking to capture the energizing effects of Green Crack.

The price range from Jack Herer is as wide as $160-$300 for an ounce depending on the average cost of an ounce in the market where you live as well as the quality of the bud. Top-shelf Jack Herer from a reputable brand in a city like New York may run closer to $300, but a less reputable brand with lower-quality cannabis in a cheaper market can cost closer to $160.

Likewise, it also depends on if you’re buying from a recreational dispensary or a medical dispensary. Medical dispensaries have higher quality cannabis for cheaper prices. You can easily get your medical card online with our services!

2. Super Lemon Haze

Super Lemon Haze is a Sativa-dominant strain with about 19% THC and 1% CBG containing terpinolene, caryophyllene, and myrcene. Its parents are Lemon Skunk and Super Silver Haze, which are descendants of Skunk #1, Northern Lights #5, and Haze.

Like Green Crack, Super Lemon Haze has a medium THC content, 1% CBG, and is rich in caryophyllene and myrcene. Super Lemon Haze is a perfect replacement if you’re looking to uplift depressive symptoms, according to user testimonials.

IPrices for Super Lemon Haze range from $80-130 oz, but again, it depends on the brand, quality, dispensary, and location.

3. Sour Diesel

Sour Diesel is a hybrid cannabis strain with 19% THC and a terpene profile consisting of caryophyllene, myrcene, and limonene. It’s a legendary strain with the legendary parents Chemdawg and Super Skunk.

Green Crack is similar to Sour Diesel in its THC content and shares the terpenes caryophyllene and myrcene. Both strains make you feel chatty and laser-focused, great qualities for overcoming lethargy, helping executive dysfunction, and socializing.

Sour Diesel is widely available due to its world renown, although that also makes it on the pricier side, clocking in at $300-$400 per ounce in cities like New York.
