It’s hard to believe that Halloween is just around the corner. As Halloween party invites roll in, you might already be considering what type of costume you’ll be sporting this year. Weed-themed Halloween costumes are fun, and they’re great conversation starters. They can also be both easy or complex to put together depending on your costume dedication level. As a bonus, they can be re-used for 420-themed parties next spring.
Whether you are gunning for that coveted costume contest first-place award, or you just want an easy-to-put-together weed-themed costume, here are some ideas that will inspire you!
Easy Weed-Themed Halloween Costumes
If you’re looking for a quick, simple costume that still shows off your love of cannabis, try one of the options below.
The Classic Marijuana Leaf and The Mary Jane
Let’s start with the obvious: the marijuana leaf costume.
If you just want to go with something easy and weed-themed while worrying less about creativity points, this one is for you. With a quick internet search, buying one of these basic costumes won’t be hard. However, you could also go an easy DIY route with this one.
Once you’ve picked up a sheet of green felt that is at least the length of your shirt, simply cut a pot leaf shape from the felt. Then, you can hot glue the leaf to the front of an old green hoodie. Add in some other green accessories, khakis for that stem-like look, an optional green hat, beanie, or gloves, and that’s it! Comfortable, easy, done!
The female twist on this is called “The Mary Jane.”
For this look, it’s all about the green. Try combining a green dress or skirt, green stockings, green makeup, and a green headband (bonus points if it has weed leaves on it). If you’re feeling a little bit more creative, you could get a fluffy green tutu and glue or tape some weed leaves to it instead. For the skirt look, finding a top that has cannabis leaves is ideal!
The Stoner Surfer Dude
California people, this one is for you. Repeat after me: “Totally awesome, dude!”
This is another outfit that is so comfortable that you’ll forget you’re in costume — and it requires very minimal effort.
Simply find a tie-dyed top, sunglasses (multi-colored aviators ), surfer shorts, flip flops, and either a real or fake bong or pipe to carry around — perhaps even a joint tucked behind your ear. Messy hair or a hat adds to this look as well.
The Snoop Dogg
Easy, fun, comfortable, and you automatically add to the costume if you smoke a joint while wearing it — what’s not to love?
This one could have a number of variations, but Snoop Dogg definitely has a “look” that shouldn’t be hard to mimic.
The good news? This costume barely feels like a costume because you’re essentially just hanging out in casual clothes. However, it would be beneficial to wear some sort of attire with a marijuana leaf on it and a wig to really get the point across. Black sunglasses and a joint are a must for this costume.
And, of course, it’s important to be thoughtful when dressing up as popular figures. We do not endorse any use of blackface.
The “Canna-Chef”
This one requires one simple purchase, or you can easily DIY it. It also works well as a costume for the host of a Halloween party. Whether you’re passing out the “special brownies” you whipped up or just putting some edibles on a platter and calling it a day, this one will be a hit.

The Canna-Chef is simple: combine a kitchen apron with marijuana leaves on it and your choice of clothing underneath. A chef’s hat is a great addition to this outfit. If you can somehow write “Let’s Get Baked” on your costume, that would drive the point home for this costume.
While the internet can provide you with exactly what you need to make this costume, you essentially just glue some marijuana leaf-shaped cutouts to a plain apron if you go the DIY route.
The Cheech and Chong
Going with a significant other or a friend? The Cheech and Chong classic costume is an easy and fun way to accomplish both.
A quick internet search will give you some ideas of their outfits overall. While there are a few variations of what this could look like, you’re probably not doing it right if one of you isn’t in a yellow crop top, red suspenders, khakis, and sporting a red beanie.
A fat joint tucked behind your ear (real or fake, but we all know which would be more fun) is the icing on the cake of this costume.
Win-Worthy Halloween Costumes With a Cannabis Twist
For those more serious about their costume this year, it’s time to get creative.
Sure, you could slap on that marijuana leaf-shaped costume and call it a day, but let’s face it — that won’t earn you any creativity points.
The Weed Superhero
To do this one right, you’re going to need a lot of green and a lot of marijuana leaves. This is another one that could probably be bought or DIY’ed up, and it works for both men and women.
For the ladies, some knee highs with weed leaves are essential. If you can find some matching gloves with weed leaves, that will help bring the entire look together.
For the top, you can get creative as long as it looks “superheroey” and has an abundance of weed leaves. The most important part of this outfit will be the superhero belt and a superhero-looking headpiece with weed leaves. Don’t forget the cape!
For the guys, you can do a similar basic green superhero look, with the addition of weed leaves. Think “Captain Cannabis” or even “Canna-Hulk” as a base.
The Bag of Weed
It sounds simple, but if you make this one yourself (which will give you more creativity points), it’s going to take some work.
One way to do it is to hot glue moss to the inside of a clear garbage bag. Then, paint or find a green garbage bag and hot glue the two bags together, leaving out the bottom part so you can put it on. To make this look like a real Ziplock bag, cut long, thin pieces of red construction paper and glue them where the red parts would normally be on a real Ziplock bag. Don’t forget to cut holes for your head and arms!
If you’re short on time, fortunately, a version of this one is sold online too!
Final Thoughts
In the end, Halloween is all about having fun and expressing yourself, and weed-themed costumes provide a perfect blend of humor, creativity, and cannabis culture.
Whether you’re going for something simple like a classic marijuana leaf or taking it to the next level with a custom superhero outfit, there’s no shortage of ideas to spark your inspiration. Embrace the green spirit and let your creativity run wild this Halloween!
