Get Baked: Magnolia Bakery Now Sells THC-Infused Chocolates

“We hope that fans enjoy this all-new way to get baked with Magnolia Bakery,” Magnolia Bakery rep Sara Gramling recently declared. Enjoyers of baked goods and cannabis alike can rejoice in a new, incredible development from New York City’s Magnolia Bakery.

In November 2023, the famed Magnolia Bakery announced that they would be introducing a line of cannabis edibles! Now, fans can enjoy a high from cannabis while also getting their sweet tooth fix.

What’s Magnolia Bakery?

In the baking world, Magnolia has made a name for themselves with classic American baked goods across the US. Beginning in the West Village in 1996, they’ve since expanded with several other locations across New York, as well as shops in Los Angeles, Chicago, and even international locations. They also offer shipping nationwide.

Although they make a variety of desserts including cakes, cookies, and cupcakes, they are perhaps best known for their viral banana pudding. Fans of Sex and the City may also recognize Magnolia from an episode in which Carrie and Miranda eat pink cupcakes in front of the bakery.

Expanding into Cannabis

Now, Magnolia Bakery has added cannabis-infused goods to its array of offerings. According to their press release, they’ve partnered with Incredibles, a cannabis brand owned by Green Thumb Industries.

In contrast to the bakery’s standard baked goods, these edibles will not be available at Magnolia Bakery locations. Instead, customers can find them at Green Thumb Industries Rise dispensaries in Illinois, Massachusetts, and Nevada.

Sara Gramling, vice president of public relations and partnerships at Magnolia Bakery, said in a press release: “Magnolia Bakery is dedicated to crafting delicious desserts for visitors of all tastes and preferences and can now share our signature flavors with cannabis consumers in three markets.” Gramling aims to bring a new experience to those who love Magnolia goods.

A Dream-Team Collab

Though the move may seem like a surprising pivot to some familiar with Magnolia, representatives from both Magnolia and Incredibles spoke excitedly about the collaboration.

Brand Manager for Incredibles, Eli Weiner, explained, “No brand is a better fit for delivering wonder to consumers than the iconic Magnolia Bakery. This collaboration merges two award-winning brands to create memorable, disruptive products in the cannabis space.”

Gramling echoed Weiner’s sentiments, emphasizing the opportunity for innovation and a “best of both worlds” collaboration: “At Magnolia Bakery, we’re always looking at new ways to bring our iconic and world-famous flavors to new audiences in new formats.” With signature Magnolia flavors and high-quality cannabis in the easily shareable, stock-up-able format of a chocolate bar, there’s a lot to love about the collaboration.

The Goods

Although the edibles are not in the format of Magnolia’s baked goods themselves, fans of the bakery’s most iconic desserts can get a close experience, as the edibles take inspiration from their banana pudding and red velvet cupcakes. The collaboration includes chocolate bar edibles in these two incredible flavors. Both bars also include a 1:1 THC to CBD ratio, with 100mg of THC and 100mg of CBD.

The Swirled Famous Banana Pudding Bar, inspired by the bakery’s banana pudding, includes “a swirl of creamy vanilla pudding, crunchy vanilla cookies, and freeze-dried bananas.” The Red Velvet Piece Ahhhh Cake is the other delectable chocolate bar, offering “flavors of moist crimson cake, cream cheese tang, and rich dark chocolate.”

Gramling explained that the Magnolia team intentionally chose flavors inspired by their most popular baked goods: “We’ve seen plenty of response from our fantastic fans enjoying banana pudding or red velvet cupcakes as their munchies of choice, and we knew we could combine the two into something amazing.”

With both bars inspired by some of the most quintessential Magnolia goods, the treats stand out amongst other edible chocolate bars.

The Future of Edibles

The Magnolia and Incredibles/Green Thumb Industries collaboration has promising implications for the progress that has been made with cannabis and the future of cannabis goods.

While cannabis has been and continues to be stigmatized by some, a bakery as iconic and popular as Magnolia embracing the possibilities of cannabis suggests an increasing acceptance of cannabis, making its way into the mainstream.

From these tempting Magnolia chocolate bars to the trending CBD-infused beverages on the market like Vybes and Cloud, cannabis has been showing up in more and more exciting products on the market. If this launch from Magnolia is any indication, the future is looking pretty sweet!
